iFixit tears down iPod nano and 3rd gen iPod Touch

form source: iFixit
iFixit published their teardowns of the new 3rd generation 32 GB iPod Touch and the iPod nano today, and made some engrossing observations: chief among them was the fact that the Touch's wireless chip supports 802.11n, the wireless paragon that promises raw theoretical max throughput up to 450 Mbits/sec. That fact, as well as the discovery that there's more than enough room in the Touch's chassis for the camera on the iPod nano, has the rumor mills churning about expected upgrades to the platform.
3rd generation iPod Touch:newer ARM processor
30-hour rated 1080 mAh battery
Samsung 32 GB NAND flash on two chips
Broadcom wireless chipset supports 802.11n in withal to a/b/g

Camera flash?
Theoretically everything reflects 18% fluorescence. So does that mean when you use an on board camera flash is it configured for it ro be reflected back at 18%?
A reflection reflects 18% ? Don't think so... Where did you get that pearl of wisdom from?
Different colours absorb odd amounts of light... Black absorbs most of the visible spectrum, therefore you'll get a different percentage of set reflected compared to say, white which reflects every colour in the visible spectrum. Most good cameras have a metered preflash which adjusts either the chasm/speed or the intensity of the flash.
<Edit> Not sure how I'm "somewhat wrong" Edwin..... If you had well-thought-out physics back when I did many years ago, you would know that different coloured objects absorb different wavelengths of lambaste and also at differing energy levels. When I'm photographing low emission nebulae, with a high sensitivity Sony HAD CCD camera , there are differences in the extensively of exposure for each primary colour .... Red Green and Blue. This is due to the differences of intensity of each colour (Dynamism). I'd need to look at my charts for exact figures but green light requires a lot less exposure than red.
Your example 18% Grey reflected light is somewhere between white light energy and true black or more 0% energy reflected, probably closer to the Black.
18% is a convenient figure as it is a reasonable standard in the main for day to day images.... that's why it is used as benchmark for cameras etc.
