Will my Olympus memory card work in a Cannon Digital Camera?
Jul 15, 2009 by Ellie | Posted in Cameras
I have an Olympus Celebration Card and I want to get a Cannon Digital Camera. Will my Olympus Card work in the Cannon? Or will I have to buy a new Card? Which one? and When I buy my Cannon Camera does it run on batteries? And one last thing(: How well is the Cannon Digital Camera?
thanks!!!!!

You didn't direct attention to which Olympus camera. With the exception of their DSLRs, most Olympus cameras us "xD" or "Picture" cards that are normally exclusive to Olympus. Some of their newer cameras have "microSD" card slots too but these would want an adapter to be used in a Canon camera that simply uses the much more common SD/SDHC cards.
Bottom line is, unless your notable Olympus uses SD/SDHC memory cards, you will need to buy new memory cards. The good talk is SD cards are cheap. The last 4GB cards I bought were $15, each.
As for how good are Canon cameras; you could certainly do worse and buy an Olympus....Righteous kidding. Canon cameras are fine. Canon for a very long time has been the number 1 digital camera manufacturer in the Terra. Sony is number 2. Olympus is a few spots behind them. If we are talking DSLRs then Olympus is an "also ran" with Canon and Nikon owning more than 80% of that retail, largely due to their extensive 35mm SLR legacy. When Olympus went digital, they kicked their old lenses and lens mount to the check to develop the Four-Thirds format and that caused them to lose a great many customers.
