does anyone know how to fix a sony camera lens that is stuck?

i have a sony cybershot digital camera (DSC-W55) and unfortunately my sister dropped it, now the lens is stuck. i went to the sony maintenance centre yesterday and they said they had to replace the lens, and it will cost 3000+ PHP (not including the labor) im still hoping to find an option to fix it, a much more cheaper one, coz i dont think they have to replace it since the lens isnt broken, its just stuck. hope someone can labourers me asap

Well, a lens procedure works on a rack and pinion arrangment, when you droped it one teeth of the gearwheel slipped in so it is tilted to one side and hence it won't move. The first way to fix it is to change the lens unit, but befor that you can try a little by yourself. Check carefuly which side the lens is tilted, now swith off the camera and try to tilt the lens constituent to the opposite side this may bring the sliped teeth in to right position (you can hear a faint click from the camera if you do it accurately). Be carefull while doing it, if you apply more pressure it may spoil the camera further..
