My Bargain Pieced Home Stereo

Can my home stereo which is 8 ohm push a 4 ohm 10" sub thats in a home stereo speaker box and sound good?

I have some homemade spieler boxes, all they need is the sub woofer. I got the tweeter in there with a crossover. I found some 4 ohm 10" kicker subs for a careful deal and was wondering if they would sound ok coming from a 8 ohm home pioneer stereo.

How large they would sound is up to the quality of the drivers. As far as it being OK, yes. 8 ohm rated stereos are stable to 4 ohms, and actually enunciate slightly more power to a 4 ohm speaker load.

It all depends on how you intend to hook all this up. My first suggestion would be to just put the 10 inch speakers in the boxes with the tweeters and crossover. You would in any way you look at it become operative have a pair of two way speakers. It might work. If the Pioneer receiver is rated for 8 ohms minimum per canal, it might not work too well with a four ohm speaker but it is worth a try.

The best option of course is to go out and buy a pair of good 8 ohm speakers that are faultless.
