What are the advantages and disadvantages of stereotypes?
Could you name some positive and some argumentative sides of having stereotypes in our society?

First ... everyone stereotypes ... yes, all 6.7 billion of us across the planet regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, and the like. If we didn't stereotype then every interaction, every stimulus, every second would present our brain with "new" or "novel" information that would prevent us from responding or, at the very least, responding within that tick when the stimulus strikes us.
To better understand the phenomenon of stereotyping takes a considered effort to move beyond the pop urbanity definition and rather rudimentary associations with stereotyping ... for example, using the two example you mentioned, the vagabonds and the rich, are often viewed and reinforced by generalizations that trigger an already fixed response based on our stereotyping. For the unexamined that reply is almost always construed as "negative" or "bad" or "unfair."
In factors, the immediate stereotypical response is not negative, bad, unfair, or anything else but our brain providing us valuable and relevant data about a stimulus. WHERE IT GETS TRICKY is what we then do with that initial information (from the stereotyping) that comes form our brain.
That is the instant of decision ... that is the so-called teachable or defining moment. That is, you can allow the stereotyping (which is natural) to have under control your subsequent actions or you can pause and consider the circumstances beyond the stereotyping and, by that, incorporate more information that may adjust or sweep your previous model of the stereotype.
In short, stereotyping is necessary, healthy, and the prime vehicle that allows us to meditate on "at the point of the stimulus" instead of always having to go back to square one. Without stereotyping, it seems reasonable to assert there would not being any advancement, development, and learning.
thats the positive side of stereotyping the downside is when people assume all stereotypes are true most of the time. I would also assert that many stereotypes are socially created for other reasons beyond allowing us to quickly process information. Certain negative stereotypes are familiar to demean groups or individuals in society and are grossly inaccurate.
