. if you have or have had any of these cameras, are they information quality? i need it to plug into a mac with a firewire cable and work with imovie. is it easy to use? but mostly quality is important.

I acquainted with a Panasonic camera when I did films in school. I now own a JVC which I'm very satisfied with. Canon is a great brand, but I don't have as much personal experience with their video cameras.

Any of these cameras would be a adroit choice for you. They are all priced fair. Panasonic and JVC both have the FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports, but you would need to get your own cable. The Canon camera uses USB and comes with its own cable. I had preferred FireWire for the longest convenience life when dealing with MiniDV, but USB 2.0 is just as fast. I personally use HDD instead of MiniDV now, but that's a bit more expensive.

The Canon and Panasonic have preferably optical zoom than the JVC. They all have Night Vision, Image Stabilization, and Manual Focus. I would probably go with either the Panasonic or the Canon for the zoom, as the three are extremely much all the same. If you don't care about zoom (they're all decent anyway), I would go with the JVC and save $50.
