Can I plug a cordless phone into a computer router without causing a problem with our AT&T DSL connection?

We justifiable got a cordless phone and the instructions are saying NOT to plug the phone into a computer router. Well, we only have one phone jack and our DSL is connected through that jack. We use the jack for our router and the router has two additional jacks (one for the computer and the other for our NON-CORDLESS phone). What is the can of worms with us plugging our new (CORDLESS) phone into the same router that the old (NON-CORDLESS) phone goes in? I don't know how it could be a problem because honestly, I thought our family was the last family on mould to actually not have a cordless in the first place. (Smile). Anyhow, please help me with this problem. Do we need to return the cordless or will we be okay? Thanks All!
I surmise a much more simple way to ask the question would be to say:

DO ANY OF YOU OUT THERE PLUG YOUR CORDLESS PHONE INTO YOUR COMPUTER/TELEPHONE ROUTER THAT IS CONNECTED TO YOUR JACK IN THE WALL?

This means not to sew it o the lan ports of a router, if you have a proper port for a phone it should work perfectly as it will be filtered correctly.

You should not have a fine kettle of fish.

The cordless phone only needs the power and a base. It also operates in an entirely different frequency spectrum by regulation.

If you have a approve of input for RJ-11 telephone cable input into your router, I'd be surprised. The RJ-45 looks like it, but is larger an won't remedy you.
