i have got a sagem htd501 tv. can anyone touch on me is this tv support hd 1080p. and if you got a hd tv then what are the best contrast , brithness , and other can you please tell me the numbers and how can i make my tv colour look adequate i have got a standard sky box on scart lead.

This is not a full hd tv, so no it won't do 1080p. But it will with pleasure do 1080i, so no great loss.

As for calibrating the TV, there is no real way to quickly answer that, as all TVs are different. Even 2 TVs coming off the moulding line next to each other will likley require slightly different settings to each other.

But if you are genuinely interested in getting it looking as godly as possible you can purchase a calibration DVD such as Digital Video Essentials (DVE) which will instruct you with test patterns etc. If you don't yearning to spend any money, email me, and I can give you a few pointers (too much to write as an answer to a question).
